The Cherished
Terms of Service
These terms explain how The Cherished works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you when you create, manage or view a memorial.

Who we are
The Cherished is a service that helps families announce a passing and keep a memorial page in one place, so that details reach the people who need them. We are based in the United Kingdom and can be contacted at support@your-domain.co.uk.
Using the service
You can browse shared memorials without an account. To create or manage a memorial you need an account, and you must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for anything done through your account. Please tell us promptly at support@your-domain.co.uk if you believe someone else has used it.
Your memorials and your content
You decide what appears on a memorial you create: the person's name and photograph, dates, Janaza and burial details, updates, and the family message. You keep the rights to what you add. You give us permission to store, display and share it as the memorial settings allow, so we can show the page to the people you share it with.
You confirm that you have the right to share the details and photographs you add, and that they are accurate at the time you publish them. Please be careful with information about people who are not you, especially where a photograph shows someone who can be identified.
Who can manage a memorial
Every memorial has an owner, and can have other managers. Managers can edit details, approve or decline photographs and videos sent by visitors, and hide comments. Someone who is not a manager can view a shared memorial and, where the family allows it, add a comment or send photographs for approval.
Photos and videos sent by visitors
Anything a visitor sends stays private until a manager approves it. Approved items appear on the memorial; declined items are not published and are removed. We do not publish visitor uploads without a manager's decision.
Comments and words of comfort
Comments appear on the memorial so family and friends can respond to one another. Managers can hide any comment. We may also remove content that is abusive, unlawful, or clearly not appropriate for a page like this.
Memorial posts
The memorial post generator is free to use. It builds an image from the details on your memorial so you can share them on WhatsApp, in stories, or as a post. The image is yours to share as you wish. We ask that the small "Created with The Cherished" footer stays on it, as that is how the image was made.
Acceptable use
Please do not use The Cherished to unlawfully collect information about someone, to impersonate a person or organisation, to post unlawful or harmful material, or to send people to services you are not entitled to advertise. We can suspend or remove a memorial that breaks these rules, and we will tell the owner unless doing so would cause harm.
The service, changes, and availability
The Cherished is provided free of charge at launch. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn as we learn what families need. For example, email notifications about new comments and uploads are still to come. We aim to keep the service running, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Your memorial details and photographs are stored for you, and you can export or copy what matters before you delete a memorial.
Closing a memorial
A manager can delete a memorial. It then stops being visible to visitors. Copies held in routine backups may remain for a short time until those backups roll over, and we will remove them as soon as that happens.
What The Cherished is not
The Cherished helps you share information. It is not a funeral director, a mosque, a solicitor, or a bereavement counsellor, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Always confirm arrangements directly with the mosque, funeral director, or family concerned.
Liability
The service is provided "as is". We are not responsible for information posted by families, and we are not responsible for loss or damage arising from using the service, except where the law says we cannot exclude that responsibility.
Changes to these terms
If we make changes that affect how you use the service, we will tell you before they take effect, by email where we have your address, and by updating this page.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. For anything else, write to support@your-domain.co.uk or see the support page.
